Catch up on everything new at Brandhall Tots & Nursery
Autumn Term in Tots:
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new children and their families, and to say a big welcome back to our existing children and their families. Over the forthcoming term we look forward to working closely with you, as we recognise the importance of working together to provide your child with the best possible learning outcomes. In these present times, we would like to take the opportunity to reassure you that we will be taking every possible precaution to ensure the health and safety of your little ones, whilst continuing to provide a fun and stimulating learning environment.
Our focus texts this term will be ‘Postman Bear’ and ‘Dear Santa’. The children will be learning to tell these stories using both words and the ‘talk4write’ actions. Using actions to tell stories helps engage the children, helps reinforce language, vocabulary and the understanding of words. It also helps develop their fine and gross motor skills which will later be needed for writing. Many of the opportunities that will be offered during learning through play will be linked to our focus text. Through ‘Postman Bear’ we will be exploring counting and quantity as we find out how many letters are in the postman’s sack. To further develop our mark making skills we will be writing letters too. Through ‘Dear Santa’ we will be exploring shape, size and mark making and finding out what happens to letters that are sent in the post.
Each day, your child will take part in small group sessions. During the Autumn term, these sessions will focus mainly on turn taking and communication. There will also be an opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions, don’t forget your wellies and waterproofs! Later in the term, we will send out a letter to inform you on which day our Forest School sessions will take place.
Is there anything you would like your child to share with their friends? Are you doing something different with your child? Visiting somewhere they haven’t been before or doing something they really enjoy? Let us know so that we can talk to your child about their experience. Send information, along with pictures, where possible, to firstname.lastname@example.org
